Garry Wells wants to keep giving something back to local people on Teesside after establishing Wells CRS in regional and national markets.

The business, co-owned by Garry and David Murphy since 2019, has a track record for helping the community through charitable work and sponsorships.

That has been achieved alongside Wells CRS successfully developing a reputation for delivering projects on time and to high standards across the country. An extensive list of clients includes Arriva, Knight Frank and Dodds Brown.

Garry said: “It’s nice to be able to say you are from Teesside and that you try to look after people from Teesside by providing opportunities.

“Wherever we can we take on young apprentices and give them chances to shine because we know times are hard, particularly after Covid. We are not just a company working nationally for profit, we also want to be known as a company that gives back.

“As well as those we employ from this area, we sponsor children’s football, cricket and basketball teams and we do our best to support the area local to us – like when we put the lights up at Christmas each year and help with the transformers and electrics for that too.”

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough-born Garry set up the business originally in 2001 from his garage when the company’s focus was purely on electrics and real-time public information (RTPI).

Over the years and having secured successful contracts with established customers such as TFL and Siemens VDO, Wells has grown but has tried to retain family orientated values.

Garry is married to Stacey, has two daughters, Bethany and Holly, his sister, Jan, is the office manager and brother Michael is an electrical supervisor.

Then in 2019 Garry’s friendship with David Murphy, the former Middlesbrough, Hibernian and Birmingham footballer, developed into a working partnership.

Garry said: “It’s nice to share the load and not have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders on your own when you run a business. Now things are halved and shared and solutions found together.

“In recent years David’s involvement means the responsibility of the workload is split in half and that has allowed us to have extra time to spend with clients.”

Turnkey

Wells CRS now provides a turnkey solution from design, management and installation through to the decommissioning of equipment. Projects are carried out to the required regulations.

From its headquarters at Middlesbrough’s Mandale Park, Wells CRS’ services include electrical, heating, plumbing commercial refurbishment, flooring, RTPI, walls, floors, ceilings, data communications and telecommunications.

Garry said: “We have expanded into many different areas over the years because of the contracts we have had.

“We found that clients who wanted electrical fit-outs needed plastering of the walls, for example. More and more clients asked us to do a full office fit-out, so Wells CRS became the one-stop-shop for commercial refurbishment that we are today.”
