A leading commerce experience platform’s Teesside base has reduced its carbon footprint after instructing Wells CRS to overhaul its lighting system.
Amplience, a dynamic global publishing platform, wanted the work completed quickly and to a high standard before an office get-together in late April at its Hudson Quay site in Middlesbrough.
The Halyard 11,000 sq ft office hadn’t been used for the majority of the Covid period and Wells CRS went in and replaced a dilapidated 72-watt lighting system with a more efficient 30-watt LED system. Room sensors were also replaced as well as repairs to emergency lighting.
The Middlesbrough-based commercial refurbishment specialists estimate that the improvements will lead to significant financial savings.

Garry Wells, Wells’ co-owner, said: “We have upgraded to a more energy efficient, LED, system that is also more effective. The changes all meet with the building regulations and reduces its carbon footprint.
“We have carried out lighting upgrades and emergency lighting. Based on 2022 average business electricity costs, we calculated their previous fittings carried an 8,264kWh of energy usage.
“We have replaced those with new fittings that will mean 4,320 kWh of usage, with sensors to lower the daily usage even lower. It means energy savings of up to 4,304kWh per year.”

Garry added: “As a new client, Amplience contacted us via a recommendation from an existing client of ours. They wanted the work carried out to a tight deadline and we delivered the project in time.”
Amplience are now looking to use Wells CRS for further annual maintenance work having fulfilled the brief and impressed the customer.

Claire Kidd, Amplience’s office manager, said: “One thing I have taken away from working with Garry and Wells is how helpful and accommodating they were – even helping with other aspects that weren’t being asked of them.
“He understood what I wanted, went with it and I’ve not had to worry about it at all. We will be using Wells for other projects going forward.
“We had an important company get-together on the horizon in April, so we knew we needed to replace the lighting system because several areas of the office had no lights because it has not been used much during Covid.
“What I wanted to know was ‘could they do it in a short period of time?’ They moved quickly and it means we are now ready to host people from Europe and the USA when they visit this month.
“Saving money is obviously a good thing too for the business, but Amplience now has a 3,000sq ft kitchen section with a working light system as well as further improvements in the east and west wing, 4,500sq ft each, of our Hudson Quay office.”
